About Powder Coating -

Powder coating is one of the most durable coatings available on the market.  Compared to liquid coatings, powder coatings are superior in abrasion and chemical resistance plus exhibit excellent flexibility.

The parts to be coated are electrically grounded, so that the charged particles adhere to them until melted and fused into a solid coating in a curing oven. The result is an attractive, durable, high-quality finish.

The powder coating itself offers another advantage -- it is environmentally friendly.. virtually pollution free. Because Powder Coatings are applied as a dry powder there are no V.O.Cvi.2 or other air contaminants. Therefore, Powder Coatings can be more cost effective than traditional liquid coatings.

Surface Preparation -

One distinction in Top Koat's custom powder coating process, is surface preparation. Removal of all contaminants on the surface, with the end product being new white metal, with the proper anchor pattern, assures the optimum bond strength. If you are looking for minimum maintenance, long term durability, maximum adhesion, surface preparation is the key to an excellent end product.

How does the process work?

Powder coating is a dry finishing process. Finely ground particles of pigment and resin are electro-statically charged and sprayed onto the products to be coated. The parts to be coated are electrically grounded, so that the charged particles adhere to them until melted and fused into a solid coating in a curing oven. The result is an attractive, durable, high-quality finish.

Are Custom Colors available?

Virtually any color, texture, and gloss level can be custom matched. Due to the process involved in manufacturing the powder resin, custom colors can be expensive and additional charges will be incurred. Typical lead times for custom matches can range anywhere from one to four weeks.

What is the lead time for coating my product?

Our goal at Top Koat is to complete your items and have them ready for shipment within 4-6 business days. An expedited service is available upon request which allows us to have your item completed within 1-2 business days for an additional 25%.

What are the Benefits of Powder Coating?

Powder Coating is Environmentally compliant since no solvents are released into the air. Powder coating is an extremely attractive, durable, scratch resistant, chemical resistant, and UV resistant coating. Depending on the specific formulation applied, each of these properties will vary. In general, epoxies exhibit good mechanical properties but fare poorly in direct sun light. Urethanes and polyesters exhibit excellent weather ability. Powder coatings are cost effective, compared to conventional liquid systems. A wide variety of coating chemistries can be applied with the same equipment, the desired film thickness can be achieved in a single pass for most applications, and the process produces fewer rejected parts.

A Rich Variety of Powder Coatings

There are many powders available (Polyester, Epoxies, Hybrids) to fulfill the desired effect .  It takes trained personnel with experience and knowledge of these various powders to insure a proper coating.
